Fire horse 1
Hinoeuma · 丙午 · once every sixty years
Fire Horse is about living true to you. Igniting the passion and life force deep within your soul. Rewild yourself. Be the force of nature you came here to be.
The energy of the Fire Horse brings you power, courage, stamina, and relentless conviction for what is true. We are transformed by fire.
The Chinese sexagenary cycle pairs ten heavenly stems with twelve earthly branches, producing sixty combinations before the sequence begins again. The Fire Horse occurs once in a lifetime. The most recent were 1846, 1906, 1966 and 2026. The next arrives in 2086.
Each stem carries an element and a polarity. Bing is yang fire: the fire of the sun
rather than the flame of a lamp, open and far reaching. The horse is the seventh earthly branch, governing the hours around noon, when light stands at its height. Fire is the horse’s native element. This pairing doubles rather than balances. Fire upon fire.
In Chinese tradition the horse belongs to summer, the south, and the heart.
Fire Horse is virtuous and pure. Its color is electric, hot, and pulsing. Whatever needs to be released, will burn away. The belly fire that is ignited fiercely in this momentous year will continue to propel you towards what is right, for many moons to come.
Across East Asia the Fire Horse has long been held as the most powerful year in the
cycle, marked for those born under it by vitality, independence and force of
will. In Japan, where the year is known as hinoeuma, women born under it were
said to carry a spirit greater than any household could contain.
The Fire Horse year is an igniting year. I have drawn the horses galloping through water and added a feminine birthing element to the art. Galloping together on the golden path ahead. A year of this pairing marks the beginning of a new era individually and collectively. The future is being set in motion now. Those born beneath it hold it for a lifetime.
Fire clears as it creates. What will you give back to the flame and what will you ignite?
what will you ignite?
