What you wear is what you feed yourself
Clothing is the closest thing to your skin aside from skin itself. It is a color bath that lasts all day, absorbed by your eyes, reflected onto your face, held in your biofield.
Every civilization that understood chromatherapy also understood dressing in color as practice. The ancients, Vedic, Egyptian, Tibetan, dressed according to their healing intention and spiritual discipline. None of this was coincidence or aesthetics. It was applied science, the science of the self as a frequency, and cloth as a tuning mechanism. The eyes process color before the conscious mind does. In milliseconds, the wavelength entering your retina triggers hormonal responses, alters brain wave activity, and shifts the autonomic nervous system. Your body responds first, always. To choose your color consciously is to choose your medicine

Chromatherapy explained
The Ancient Science of Color Healing
Every civilization that attempted to map color arrived at the same revelation: the spectrum is circular, not linear. It returns to itself. It is whole. The ancients understood intuitively what physics confirmed, that color is not a line from dark to light but a living wheel, a cycle, a system that mirrors the body, the seasons, and the soul. To study the color wheel is to study the self.
Ancient Egypt • 2000 BCE
Healing Chambers of colored light
The ancients of Egypt traced Chromatherapy to the god Thoth, keeper of divine knowledge, and documented specific color prescriptions on papyrus. Dedicated healing chambers within temples were engineered so sunlight fractured through colored crystals and fell precisely on the body. Red stimulated the blood. Yellow puri"ed. Blue and green, the colors of the Nile and sky, were cooling, sacred, restorative. These were not metaphors. They were protocols.
Vedic India • 1500 BCE
The Ayurvedic Spectrum
Ancient Ayurvedic texts, the Atharva Veda among them, describe surya chikitsa: sun therapy using colored glass and fabric to channel specific wavelengths into the body. The ancients placed colored water in the sun and administered it as medicine. They dressed in color as prescription, understanding that each of the seven primary hues governs an organ, an emotion, a state of being. This was clinical knowledge, precise, repeatable.
Medieval Europe • 12th century CE
Hildegard von Bingen & the Living Light
Hildegard von Bingen, mystic, healer, and polymath, wrote extensively of viriditas, the greening power, a divine life-force she identified with the color green and its capacity to restore what she called "divine moisture" to the body. Her illuminated manuscripts depicted the human body surrounded by concentric rings of colored light emanating outward, a field she understood as both spiritual and physical. She prescribed colored cloth, colored stones, and colored light as treatment for ailments of body and spirit.
17th - 19th century • the science arrives
Newton, Goethe & The Argument for Color's Power
In 1672, Newton passed sunlight through a prism and revealed the full visible spectrum hidden within white light, proving that what appears as plain light contains all color, all frequency, all possibility. Every surface you see is reflecting a specific electromagnetic wavelength into your eye, and through it, into your nervous system. A century later, Goethe challenged Newton's cold physics with human truth. His theory of Colors (1810) argued that color cannot be separated from human perception, that color acts on us, that we are participants in the spectrum, not neutral observers. Both were right. The science and the feeling are the same truth, seen from different angles.
