The First Leap
Louis-Sébastien Lenormand made the first recorded parachute descent — leaping from the Montpellier Observatory with a rigid-framed silk canopy. The fabric chosen: silk. Already, the most refined natural textile on earth was the only material trusted to hold a life at altitude. The parachute and silk have shared a lineage since the first human being chose to fall with intention.

The First Successful Free Fall
Leslie Irvin made the first intentional freefall parachute jump — pulling his own ripcord, trusting the canopy above him, becoming the first human being to choose the sky on his own terms. The parachute industry was born from this act of sovereign courage. Every bag we make carries the memory of that leap.

When Nylon Changed Everything
When silk supplies from Asia were severed by war, DuPont's newly invented nylon became the military's answer. Parachute nylon was engineered to a standard that had never existed before — impossibly light, astonishingly strong, resistant to tearing, resistant to moisture, capable of holding a human life through the violence of deployment at altitude.
By the war's end, the women who sewed parachutes — working in factories across America — had produced 2.5 million parachutes. Each one a held breath. Each one a life preserved. The fabric that came out of that era was the most performance-tested textile in human history. And after the war, it found its way into civilian hands — into the lives of those who understood that a material forged for the extraordinary belongs in the hands of those who live that way.

Surplus Becomes Symbol
Military surplus parachute nylon flooded into civilian life after Vietnam — picked up by climbers, adventurers, artists, and those who understood that the most extraordinary materials are born in service of the extraordinary. Bags, vests, jackets, hammocks — the fabric of the sky became the uniform of those who lived outside convention. The aesthetic of freedom, function, and lightness.
The Essence of those wild enough to leap
The parachutist knows something the rest of the world spends a lifetime learning: the only way out is through. Jump first. Trust the canopy. The ground will meet you.
Every human being who has stood at the door of a plane at 15,000 feet and stepped forward has crossed a threshold that changes them permanently. The fear is real. The leap is real. And what awaits on the other side of that leap — the sixty seconds of freefall, the silence of the
canopy opening, the earth rising slowly to meet you — is the most complete experience of being alive that exists.
!at energy — the energy of the one who chooses the leap — is infused into every fiber of this fabric. The parachutist detaches from outcome. They are fully committed to the act. No regrets on the earthwalk. One step, then the next. Keep moving forward. The ground always rises to meet those in motion.
!is bag carries that philosophy into your daily life — a reminder, held in your hands, that boldness is a practice. !at authenticity is the only parachute worth packing. That the most extraordinary lives are lived by those who jump in.
